Check out how easy the FFC3S is to use and the amount of dirt it gets out of the filter!!
*video speed has been increased for demonstration purposes.
The Filter Flusher model FFC3S cleans cartridges better than can be done by hand in a reasonable
amount of time. Every point on the outer surface of the cartridge passes through the cleaning spray 3
times.
- Water pressure from the spray forces the cartridge pleats apart releasing larger particles.
- During the first pass the spray is directed significantly downward to flush dirt away.
- During the second pass the spray is directed mostly horizontal.
- During the third pass the spray is directed upward flushing out dirt missed by the downward and horizontal spray.
Once started the unit runs unattended. When the cartridge has been cleaned the unit shuts itself off and
waits for the next cartridge. Exchanging a cleaned cartridge for a dirty one and restarting the machine
can easily be done in less than 15 seconds.
The Filter Flusher model FFC3S will clean the following pleated filter cartridges:
- From 6-3/4 inches to 10-1/8 inches outside diameter,
- From 3 inches to 6 inches inside diameter.
- Any length up to 52 inches.
This range accommodates the vast majority of pleated paper filter cartridges in service today.
Operation requires only a garden hose supplying clear water at 35 to 65 psi (normal household pressure).
A gage showing the inlet water pressure is mounted to the unit so the operator may verify adequate
pressure once the water supply is connected.
The unit is self-contained and portable. Weighing less than 23 pounds, it is easily carried to the work site
using the integrated handles.
Setup is straight forward and can be completed in about 2 minutes once the cartridge outside diameter is known.
A hose end adapter is provided. This adapter threads onto a standard garden hose and has a female quick connect which plugs onto the water supply of the Filter Flusher. The adapter also has a shut off valve so water may be turned on at the spigot prior to taking the free end of the hose to the Filter Flusher.
Dirty water from the cleaning process exits out the side of the unit and may be allowed to fall to the ground or may be collected in a bucket as shown in the videos. The collected dirt may then be dumped in a convenient place.
The system shown uses an empty 35 pound chlorine tab bucket with a 3/4" diameter hole drilled about 2" below the top. One end of a piece of standard irrigation supply hose is placed about 1' into the bucket through the drilled hole and the other end at convenient location to discharge dirty water. This allows the majority of water carrying smaller dirt particles to be diverted away from the machine while the larger, heavier particles sink to the bottom of the bucket.
A cartridge 7 inches outside diameter by 19-5/8 inches long is cleaned in less than 8 minutes using under 20
gallons of water with 65 psi supply pressure. Note that time to clean each cartridge and amount of water
used will vary depending on filter size and supplied water pressure.
FFC3S ROI (docx)
DownloadThe Filter Flusher model FFC3S is designed to remove as much or more dirt from a cartridge as can be done by a very thorough hand cleaning. Certainly clean enough to be returned to service. The machine does this very well and much more consistently than can be done by hand.
That does not mean it will remove all possible contaminants nor will it restore an old, stained cartridge to as new condition. There will always be some residual fine dirt particles left in each cartridge. As an example, we have cleaned the same test cartridge well over 300 times during several weeks of performance testing . Each time, even after 300 back to back cleanings, a tiny amount of very fine dirt is removed.
